#TSRTech: Samsung Unveils New Foldable Galaxy Phone

Color me low-key impressed, #Roommates. When I heard that #Samsung was coming out with a phone that folds, I was curious to see what it would it would look like, especially considering my mind went straight to the OG flip phone (because technically they fold).

But Samsung has really showed out with their new device. Samsung has been teasing the phone since November, but today they finally unveiled it at the company’s #GalaxyUnpacked event and showed the crowd how the #GalaxyFold works. When the phone is folded, it seems like your average smartphone screen, but when unfolded, the phone gives itself a tablet-sized screen.

Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy Fold on April 26th, starting at $1,980, according to @verge. The phones will be available through providers #AT&T and #TMobile in the U.S.

Samsung has built a study backbone to the device, using a hinge system that has multiple interlocking gears, all of which are hidden at the rear of the phone and allow the Galaxy Fold to transform from tablet to phone modes.

In the back of the phone, there’s also a triple-camera system that will be used for both tablet and phone modes. There’s a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera, alongside 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto cameras at the rear, and a 10-megapixel cover camera for ya selfies. Samsung is also making the Galaxy fold in four different colors.

Y’all wanna know just how lit the tablet of the phone is? Samsung is allowing the Galaxy Fold to run three apps at once on this Android device, and it’s using an app continuity system to adjust these apps when users actually move between tablet and phone modes. Apps like WhatsApp, Microsoft Office, and YouTube have all been optimized for the new display and modes, and Samsung has been working with Google to ensure Android 9 Pie fully supports this display.

#Roommates, is the Galaxy Fold the new wave for y’all, or are you still team iPhone? Let us know!
