#TSRUpdatez: R. Kelly’s Record Label Has Put His Music On Hold Amid ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ Backlash

A lot of people have spoken out against #RKelly since #SurvivingRKelly aired and now it sounds like his record label #RCA has finally responded to all the protest and backlash.

Sources told @tmz_tv that RCA/Sony has put his new music on ice, meaning the label will not release any additional music until the criminal investigations are resolved.

And it’s being reported that R. Kelly is obviously upset because he apparently has been in the studio recording new music to fulfill the obligations under his RCA contract, which required two new albums of him.

Sources told TMZ that R. Kelly is especially annoyed with RCA/Sony because they won’t break him off any bread for the music videos he wants to do.

The pressure has been on the label to respond to the accusations of sexual assault made against R. Kelly in the wake of the growing #MuteRKelly movement. But it’s much more complicated than just shutting R. Kelly down because the label has a deal with him and if they formally walk away from him without any criminal charges to justify ending their contract, they could be sued.

It’s unclear if there’s a “morals clause” in R. Kelly’s contract, which is the type of thing that would allow the label to axe him for crossing the line.

The other possibility is that they could mutually agree to end things because of R. Kelly unhappiness with the label. It’s also being rumored that other artists are now turning R. Kelly down for collabs.

There was no public comment from the labels about the situation or the investigations into their client. Protests have been occurring outside of R. Kelly’s studio in Chicago and there has been no public response to that either.
