TSR Exclusive: Chicago rapper Twista is apologizing for sharing a viral post comparing two women that featured the images of actress Gabourey Sidibe and model Bernice Burgos.
Many people were angry with Twista for sharing the viral post that people felt was meant to fat shame Gabby. Now, Twista is speaking out amid the backlash and exclusively tells us that sharing the post was “an honest mistake.”
He says the post was a reshare from Facebook and it wasn’t meant to harm anyone. “My apologies to anyone that took offense to it,” Twista tells us speaking on the now deleted post.
He explained to us that while he does not know Gabby directly, he wants to offer his sincere apologies to her.
“I was traveling most of the day when I saw the mistake, I immediately had it taken down,” Twista said. “I don’t know her directly but my sincere apologies to her.”
Prior to Twista deleting the post, Gabourey responded directly to Twista and his use of her picture in the comments under the post.
The viral post compares two fictional women, asking people who they would choose to be with. Option A boasted a financially stable woman with no kids with Gabourey as the pictured woman, and Option B was a jobless woman with no car and multiple children and baby daddies featuring Bernice Burgos.
“Wow. I um…gee. @twistagmg I only like you as a rapper I forgot about in 2005. But good luck with option B!,” Gabby commented.

Not to mention, Gabby’s fiance jumped to her defense in the comments to also let Twista know he’s not playing about his lady!
“C YOU NEED A JOB,” Gabourey’s fiance Brandon Tour commented.
While it’s fun to share viral things, people may not always realize the message they’re putting out. Perhaps Twista and others will think twice before they hit that repost button.
