Two UC Berkeley Students Pitched A Course About Frank Ocean And The School Plans To Offer It This Fall!

#Roommates, are you fluent in the works of Frank Ocean? Well you can be if you’re a student at UC Berkeley.

Two students pitched a student-taught course about Frank Ocean that they plan on titling “Brain Like Berkeley,” which are lyrics from his song “Novacane.” Preya Gill told the Fader that she and her roommate Deborah Chang bonded over his music and saw the potential that his artistry offers for a course.

The course will reportedly cover Frank Ocean’s artistic history, upbringing, background, his musical influences, and the way he “challenges dominant social concepts such as toxic-masculinity and gender politics,” among other things.

The women say students will be able to sign up for the course in August on UC Berkeley’s website. They say they are considering live streaming options and posting course material online to share with the world.
