Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Resigns After Months Of Company Crisis

#TravisKalanick, CEO, and co-founder of #Uber has resigned. This comes after announcing that he’d be taking an indefinite leave of absence after his mother died in a boating accident. This decision to step down seems to be the end of a string of major crisis with Uber.

If you remember, we reported that over 20 employees at Uber headquarters in San Francisco had been fired after the company had launched investigations into sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying and unprofessional behavior claims. Kalanick’s investors and leaders have encouraged him to resign and in a statement explained that they just don’t want consumers to be distracted with the drama.

“I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life I have accepted the investors request to step aside so that Uber can go back to building rather than be distracted with another fight,” Kalanick said in a statement on Tuesday.

Last year, Kalanick was filmed arguing with Uber driver Fawzi Kamal after he chastised the CEO for lowering the pay rate and claimed that this is why he went bankrupt.

“Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own sh*t,” Kalanick said in the video. “They blame everything in their life on somebody else.” Later on, he publicly stated that he needs to “grow up.”

Hopefully, this leave will get Uber back on track!
