Venus Williams Reportedly Files An Emergency Protective Order In Car Crash Lawsuit

Recently it was reported that Venus Williams was involved in a car crash that claimed the life of one of the people involved.

The accident, which occurred last month, took place in Palms Beach Garden, FL, which resulted in 78-year-old Jerome Barson being taken to the ICU with internal bleeding and organ damage. He, unfortunately, passed away two weeks later due to his injuries.

According to E! News, Williams’ lawyer “filed a motion to prevent Barson’s lawyer from conducting an inspection on the Hyundai Accent and downloading its data today out of concern that evidence could be destroyed or lost in the process of the inspection,” on July 5th.

Barson had been riding in the passenger seat with his wife behind the wheel of their 2016 Hyundai Accent. Their vehicle collided with Williams’ 2010 Toyota Sequioa SUV at an intersection.

The accident report states that Barson’s wife claims she was not able to avoid Williams’ car, and Williams claims she entered the intersection during a green light, but stopped due to the traffic.

Williams was not cited or charged and the investigation continues, but a portion of the report, allegedly states, “[Venus] is at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver].”

Williams’ lawyer reportedly asked that the inspection of either vehicle be postponed until the court can provide a “procedure for the proper collection of all data.” A hearing is reportedly scheduled for Friday.
