Could you ever imagine losing the love of your life for more than 20 plus years just days before Valentine’s Day? Sadly,OKC’s assistant coach Monty Williams has to face this horrifying reality as it is reported he lost his wife, Ingrid Williams, after being involved in a car crash Wednesday evening.
According to ESPN, Ingrid was driving with three of her five children when another car crossed the center median crashing intoher SUV head-on.Fortunately, the children weren’t affected bythe accident, but she was pronounced dead after suffering from herinjuries at the hospital. It is reported the other driver was also killed.
News of her death has hit the team hard and they released this heartfelt statement,”The Thunder organization has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid’s passing,” the team said in a statement. “Words cannot adequately describe how deep our sorrow is for the loss of Monty’s wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in every way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers.”
Kevin Durant seemed to have been hit extremely hard by the news,”I tried to think about what I’m going to say, but I just love Coach Monty so much, man. I feel for him. Somebody we all love … I just don’t know what to say. I’m sorry, excuse me,” he said.
Monty and Ingrid first met when he was a freshman at Notre Dame. Our condolences go out to him and his family.
