Givenchy’s Latest Collection is On Fire—Literally!

There has been a recall on some of the tops from Givenchy’s men’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection due to flammability risks!

High-fashion designer, Riccardo Disci of Givenchy most likely didn’t play close attention to his fabric of choice because three of the silk shirts that range from $685-$1350 are highly flammable, according to the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission.

“The T-shirts fail to meet the federal flammability standard for wearing apparel and pose a risk of burn injury to consumers,” CPSC exclusively reveals to The Fashion Law.

The latest collection that just hit retailers in February, like Nordstrom, Barneys New York, FarFetch and Neiman Marcus will all have to pull the merchandise, but the silk tops still maybe readily available online. Apparently, the CPSC has no control over only in store merchandise not online retailers , Complex reveals. Reimbursement will also take place for any consumer who has purchased the shirts and Givenchy will have to directly contact each customer to apologize for such inconvenience.

The shirts are all made from a silk material, but all are uniquely different: there’s a black and white striped sheer top, a blue v-neck sheer top with a soft plaid print and a solid black top with a woman hanging from a cross. Only 60 shirts have been sold thus far, but that’s soon about to end as the recall announcement was publicly made on April 5.
