Double Explosion in Baghdad, At Least 126 Dead. ISIS Claims Responsibility.

#Roommates lets keep Baghdad in our prayers as they try to recover from this terrible tragedy.

According to CNN, two car bombs exploded in two different areas in Baghdad, wounding 147 people and killing at least 125. The first explosion took place in Karrada, a central neighborhood where citizens heavily shop. Of the 125 killed there were a total of 25 children.

The second car bomb took place not too long later in Shaab, another neighborhood and business district. Although it’s victim count wasn’t as steep as the first, the second detonation left one dead and five wounded.

The Islamic State took to Twitter to claim responsibility for the Karrada attack. Basically there was a target on Shiite neighborhoods and both the Karrada and Shaab neighborhoods are Shiite neighborhoods.

This tragedy is unfortunately not the beginning of their car bombings. It’s apparently at least the third occurrence in recent weeks. According to Complex, in May there was a car explosion killing 24 people and injuring 71. There were two following explosions killing 19 and injuring 44.

Does it ever end?
