Roommates, as many of you saw, last week, talkshow host Wendy Williams made some pretty inflammatory comments regarding the purpose of HBCUs and black organizations such as the NAACP. She later clarified her comments, but many of her peers including Charlamagne Tha God cannot seem to understand why she’d made the comments in the first place… considering she’s Black and has family members that have attended HBCUs.
“I dont know when Wendy Williams got to the point that she has become that disconnected from black people that she doesnt think there’s a need for HBCUs and black organizations,” Charlamagne said. The radio host continued to point out Wendy’s hypocrisy by noting her age. “And, shes 51 years old! If anybody should understand the need for black organizations and colleges it’s her. She was born in 64 the civil rights act that ended segregation that year. She damn near lived through the whole era!”
Charlamagne wasn’t the only one who publicly outed Williams for her comments. TVOne’s Roland Martin gathered her on live television by saying, Wendy let me help you out. When youre on TV and have no idea what youre talking about, shut the hell up. Dont open your mouth. Dont embarrass yourself. Because you sound silly. Oop! Martin was actually invited to visit her show this morning, so keep your tea cups nearby!
Hopefully, Mrs. Williams has learned her lesson after Chevrolet allegedly revoked their sponsorship for her show as well. What are your thoughts? Check out the full interview below and let’s chat
