When someone from the circle speaks up, it usually means the situation has gone beyond music. Fans have been watching a certain rift play out in hip-hop, and now 21 Savage is stepping forward with something to say. And best believe, he brought both Young Thug and Gunna into the conversation in a major way.
On Wednesday, December 17, the Slaughter Gang boss took to X to play peacemaker and address the long-standing tension between Young Thug and Gunna. 21 Savage didnt mince words as he publicly urged the former YSL duo to put their differences aside and reunite. In a candid post, he suggested the “streets” havent brought anyone anything but trauma. The rapper also insisted there was still love between the two, even referencing past situations that had already been swept…under the rug.
As previously reported, the rift between Gunna and Young Thug stems from the YSL RICO case, when Gunna accepted an Alford plea deal in December 2022. That decision led to speculation that Gunna cooperated with authorities, something that reportedly strained his relationship with Thug. While Young Thug later secured his release from jail in October 2024 through a plea deal of his own, the two have yet to publicly reconnect. And, fans are still waiting on any sign of new music or reconciliation between the former collaborators.
Later in the night, Thugger responded to 21, expressing his love for him. Future also weighed in on 21’s message. Swipe below to see the updates.
Naturally, fans ran straight to TSRs Instagram comment section to sound off. Many applauded 21 Savage for stepping in as the ultimate peacemaker, saying everyone needs a friend like him. Meanwhile, others joked that hes probably tired of everybodys mess by now. Some suggested for 21 to make amends between all of our faves, so a major collab project can happen.
One Instagram user @kiingdime said, “He one of the realest cause he @d everybody he must be the peacemaker of the group“
This Instagram user @ms.vauss commented, “21 the therapist of the group I LOVE IT!“
And, Instagram user @robynrose_ added, “Send one to Drake, Future and Metro, we need another album ”
Meanwhile, Instagram user @thedominiquej shared, “hes such the mature one and i love that cause let it go fr“
While Instagram user @trinivixen1127 wrote, “Hes tried of yall . He just wants everyone to get along.“
Lastly, Instagram user @sweetlifeofangel3 joked, “21 said he tired of having to pick between who he gonna do a feature for yall really need to fix this asap ”
Adding more fuel to the conversation, earlier this week Young Thug took to X with a cryptic post that fans believe was aimed at Gunna. The rapper wrote, N*gga acting like he the victim lol, which many interpreted as a response to Gunnas recent reflections. Just days prior, Gunna shared a heartfelt Instagram post opening up about the challenges hes faced in recent years. Despite the setbacks, Gunna emphasized that hes choosing to move forward with good intentions, keeping a good heart, and showing love regardless.
Adding another layer to the conversation, Young Thugs father, Williams Sr., has continued to publiclyshow love to Gunna. Most recently, he was spotted attending Gunnas sold-out Atlanta show, with videos from the night going viral. His presence once again turned heads, especially amid ongoing accusations that Gunna cooperated with authorities following the 2022 YSL indictment. These allegations surfaced after Gunna accepted a plea deal and was released while Young Thug remained behind bars until October 2024. Despite the noise, Williams Sr. has stood firm in his support. He also previously stated in a 2023 interview that Gunna did nothing to hurt his sons case. Williams Sr. even appeared in Gunnas ‘One Of Wun’ music video in 2024 and popped out at a different Atlanta show.
