North Korea Claims the U.S. Declared War… Gears up for Showdown!

It is being reported that North Korea had accused the U.S. Of declaring war after claiming that “we crossed the red line.”

Apparently they’re upset because Washington placed Kim Jong Un, the countries leader, on its list of sanctioned individuals. The Director-General for U.S. affairs department in Pyongyang told the Associated Press that this is the straw to break the camels back.

“The United States has crossed the red line in our showdown. We regard this thrice-cursed crime as a declaration of war.” Han Song Ryol said.

The country may be taking the U.S. placing Kim, directly by name on the sanction list a little personal. Let’s remember that they have a pretty long track record of being sanctioned internationally. But that’s the nation as a whole–not their leader specifically.

So what does this mean moving forward? Han Song Ryol confirmed that the Korean Peninsula is now on a war footing and further warned that if the U.S. And South Korea hold their annual war games next month as planned, there could be a “vicious showdown.”

The timeline of events isn’t very lengthy but on July 6th Washington places Kim on the list. One week later Korea cuts off all official means of communication between themselves and the U.S. that brings us to today — Korea accuses the U.S. of declaring war and prepare for action.

As far as the U.S. is concerned, Washington’s list wasn’t constructed to declare war on Korea. According to U.S. State Department officials, it was partially intended to “highlight those responsible for the abuses and to pressure lower-ranking officials to think twice before carrying them out.”

But hey this wouldn’t be the first major misunderstanding in history, now would it?
