Happy Thanksgiving #Roommates! The holiday season is finally here and we always need a soundtrack to bring about the right vibes. Therefore, we have composed a list of a few songs that represents family time and being thankful.

1: Shirley Caesar “Hold My Mule” (#UNameItChallenge Mix)
Now we all know the #UNameItChallenge has been all over the place, and we’ve all turned up to the mixed version of Shirley Ceasar’s 2011 song “Hold My Mule” as we counted down the days until Thanksgiving. Therefore it’s only right that it takes the number one spot.
2: J. Cole “Love Yourz”
We can always count on rappers like J. Cole to give us hit singles, but also music that has a deep message. “Love Yourz” from his 2014 album 2014 Forest Hills Drive is no different as he reminds us to be thankful for the lives we were given.
3: Kanye West “Family Business”
Now this song is the epitome of what family gatherings seem to be like for many of us. Off of his 2004 album College Dropout, “Family Business” reminds us of the family love that fills the room during the holidays.
4: Boyz II Men: “A Song For Mama”
You cannot think about Thanksgiving without visualizing the 1997 film Soul Food starring Nia Long, Vanessa Williams, Vivca A. Fox, Mekhi Phifer and a host of others. The film showed us the true meaning of family and giving thanks. With “A Song For Mama” being one of the leading tracks from the films soundtrack, you cannot help but to think of this during the holidays.
5: Mary J. Blige “Family Affair”
We don’t want no “hateration or holleratin’ in this dancery,” we just want to have a great time when everyone gets together for Thanksgiving dinner. This song is definitely a Mary J. Blige classic and gets everyone dancing once the beat drops.
6: Alicia Myers: “I Want To Thank You”
This is definitely a classic at the family functions all year long. Released back in 1981, Alicia Myers sings about giving thanks as the hard days pass on by.
7: 4: Big Sean ft. Kanye West “Blessings”
Off of his 2015 album Dark Sky Paradise, “Blessings” has been one of Big Sean’s biggest records and reminds us on the regular that we are all blessed.
8: Hezekiah Walker: “Grateful”
Released in 2005, the gospel singer reminds us that we need to remain grateful for all that God has done.
9: Tupac: “Dear Mama”
Off of Tupac’s classic 1995 album “Me Against The World” Tupac gives thanks to his mother for all that she has done for him, and we all can relate to that in some way.
10: Lil Bow Wow: “Thank You”
Back then Bow Wow was Lil Bow Wow as he gave thanks to those who helped him reach a milestone in his career during the release of his sophomore “Doggy Bag” back 2001.
