Chicago Man Wins $600,000 After Accidentally Getting Locked Up For 32 Hours

I’m pretty sure none of us want to be locked up for no reason. Unfortunately that’s exactly what happened to a Chicago man who was locked up for 32 hours with no food or water! He ended up getting the last laugh because he sued and won $600,000.

According to the NY Daily News, Farad Polk was visiting his son back in July 2014 and was instructed to “go down the hallway and turn to the right.” Farad walked through a heavy steel door and next thing he knew the door closed right behind him. He ended up in an 8 foot by 8 foot cell which is usually used for the worst criminals.

Farad’s problems got worse because it was the weekend and none of the working guards could hear him yelling for help.

“I’m sitting there waiting for five minutes and say, ‘This ain’t right,'” Polk according to NBC in Chicago. “So as I turned around to buzz out, there was nothing to buzz out. It’s just a room.”

After being trapped in the cell for more than 32 hours he broke the sprinkler head. He ended up getting rescued and but he did admit he thought he was going to die.

What would you do if this happened to you?
