6 People Shot & 1 Person Killed In California Greyhound Bus Shooting

Just as many were still enjoying the Super Bowl festivities, California residents were informed of tragic news following a deadly shooting on a Greyhound bus that resulted in six people being shot—including one fatality.

@CNN reports, one person was killed and five others were wounded in the early morning hours of February 3rd, following a shooting incident that occurred on a Greyhound bus, according to authorities from the California Highway Patrol. The bus was reportedly transporting about 40 passengers from Los Angeles to the San Francisco area. Just after 1:30 AM, the reported gunman opened fire on the bus as it was traveling on Interstate 5, which is located in the Grapevine area near Fort Tejon Road.

Police praised the bus driver, who was luckily able to get the suspect off the bus before he could shoot anyone else and he then voluntarily surrendered to authorities. The shooting suspect is currently in custody, however at this time his identity has not been revealed to the public.

California Highway Patrol said the suspect boarded the bus in Los Angeles, but they are not certain where he is from originally. Authorities have also not yet determined what the suspect’s motive was in the shooting.

Although the identity of those who were shot has not been publicly revealed because their families have not yet been notified, the sole victim who was killed has been described as a 51-year-old woman from Colombia.

We want to send our thoughts and prayers to the victims and those who were injured.
