7-Year-Old Girl Fatally Shot At A McDonald’s Drive-Thru In Chicago

Roommates, we are sending our deepest condolences to the family of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams. She was unfortunately shot and killed Sunday afternoon while in the car with her father at a McDonald’s drive-thru.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, authorities said that the shooting took place on Chicago’s West Side near Roosevelt Road and Kedzie Avenue at about 4:15 pm. The victims of the shooting were later identified as 7-year-old Jaslyn and her 29-year-old father. Once officers arrived at the scene, they placed Jaslyn in the back of their SUV and rushed her to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

As of Monday, her father still remains in the hospital in serious condition.

A McDonald’s employee says that two men jumped out of another car and approached the car with Jaslyn and her father and fired multiple gunshots inside of the car. Jaslyn was shot multiple times and her father was shot in the torso.

Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot spoke about the shooting and said, “I am heartbroken and angered that a 7-year-old child was killed this afternoon on Chicago’s West Side. This unthinkable act of violence has no place here. The epidemic of gun violence cutting our children’s lives short cannot go on.”

On Monday, the words “Rest in Pink,” were seen on the side of the McDonald’s leading many people to believe that was a tribute to Jaslyn, whose life was cut too soon. Her nickname “Pinky” was also seen on the side of the building as well.

Detectives are still investigating the unfortunate shooting. No one has yet to be taken into custody.
