It looks like a reboot of the classic Sister Act films is getting a reboot and coming to Disneys new streaming service, Disney+.
According to Variety, Insecure executive producer Regina Hicks, and #Star showrunner Karin Gist are teaming up to pen the sequel for Disneys streaming service.
Plot details for the new Sister Act are being kept under wraps, but we all know the original starred Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier who goes into witness protection at a convent and pretends to be a nun. The first film dropped in 1992, and the sequel released 1993 and showcased Goldberg as a music teacher.
A rep for Goldberg said to Entertainment Weekly, It is our understanding that this is not a continuation and Whoopi is not involved.
Back in September, Goldberg mentioned the different direction the Sister Act franchise would be taking this time around.
She said on Good Morning Britain, Weve been all over Disney begging and theyve decided that theyre going to go in a different direction withSister Act. So it wont beSister Act 3, itll be a brand-new rendition ofSister Act. And I guess Ill walk through a scene and thats how theyll say I was part of it.
