All Charges Dropped For Remaining Three Officers In Freddie Grey Case

CNN is reporting that this morning, Baltimore prosecutors dropped all charges against the remaining three officers who were facing trial in connection to the death of Freddie Gray last spring. Gene Ryan, president of the Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police, boasted, “Justice has been done” after the hearing.

Baltimore State’s prosecutor Marilyn Mosby, however, didn’t feel that way and described the decision as “agonizing”. She said that throughout the case, there was “an inherent bias that is a direct result of when police police themselves.”

She continued, “There were individual police officers that were witnesses to the case, yet were part of the investigative team, interrogations that were conducted without asking the most poignant questions, lead detectives that were completely uncooperative and started a counter-investigation to disprove the state’s case.” For these reasons, the prosecutor believes that even if they tried this case again, or cases just like it, “we would still end up with the same result.”

So, again, this is why the Black Lives Matter movement is needed. Black people are being murdered at a disproportionately higher rate than any other race in this country and when people such as police officers, who are sworn to protect and serve us, are instead killing us, there is a problem that has to be addressed, assessed and eliminated.

Take your anger to the polls, Roommates!! Justice cannot be forsaken any longer.
