Passengers traveling from Phoenix to Minneapolis on American Airlines experienced a delayed arrival as their flight had to make an emergency landing due to one of the other passengers.
According to TMZ, about an hour into the flight, the pilot announced that they had to make an emergency landing in Denver due to “a security issue in the back.” There was reportedly a passenger going around telling people that he was on cocaine. That’s when he ran to the back of the plane and locked himself in the bathroom for about 10 minutes.
Sources say the man returned to his seat about 5 minutes before the flight landed. He was reportedly jittery when he returned to his seat, the police and EMT’s rushed on board as soon as the plane landed.
In a video from the plane, the man can be seen lighting up, and passengers within the first 13 rows were asked to exit the plane as they worked to remove the man from the plane.
An American Airlines rep said to TMZ, “Flight 2408 diverted due to a disruptive passenger. Law enforcement met the flight, and the aircraft re-departed.”
Police on the scene determined that it was more of a medical issue, and the man was taken to the hospital. His condition is not known at the moment, but he was not arrested and did not face any charges for causing the disturbance.
