One Year Later, Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Are Spilling ALL The Tea On Their Relationship Scandal

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are finally spilling the tea on the workplace affair that rocked the morning news world. The former ‘Good Morning America’ hosts opened up about their past and ongoing relationship during the recent launch of their joint podcast.

As previously reported, Amy and T.J.’s romance became public last November when photos surfaced of them boo’ed up in upstate New York. Within days, sources told outlets like Page Six and PEOPLE that the romance was not an affair. Instead, they claimed that T.J. and Amy Robach were separated from their spouses before becoming involved.

In the debut of ‘Amy & T.J. Podcast,’ the couple reiterated that their “love” didn’t begin with cheating on their former spouses. Amy, in particular, spoke about relationships being “hard…messy…not perfect.”

“I think in the end, all of us are always rooting for love and it doesn’t always happen when you want it to happen, where you want it to happen, and it’s undeniable when it’s real and it’s something you have to navigate, and it’s not easy. And I think anyone who has lived enough life, I think if they’re really honest with themselves, can attest to the fact that relationships are hard, they’re messy, they’re not perfect,” Amy Robach said. “But we have fought for love, and I can say that I’ve never been happier. I am with my best friend. I’m not going to get cheesy, but we have gone through, I think it’s fair to say, a year of hell…”

T.J. followed her comments, saying, “We’re the folks that lost the job we love because we love each other — bottom line.” Like Amy, he eventually spoke of being the “happiest and healthiest” that he’s been “in [his] life.”

Days after their relationship became public, ABC suspended Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes. Their podcast’s first episode debuted on that suspension’s first anniversary (Dec. 5, 2022.) After a scandalous month of reports and intimate, viral pictures together, ABC fired both hosts in January.

On their podcast, Amy and T.J. clarified that they were never “caught” in an affair. Instead, they said their relationship was “outed” by a publication.

“To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulters. Being outed as cheating on our spouses, and it wasn’t the case because the odd thing is that the day those pictures were taken…the day that article was released, we had both, at the point, were in divorce proceedings,” T.J. said.

Amy added that they both had attorneys and mediators for those proceedings.

Previous reports also claimed Amy and T.J. had grown closer amid Amy’s divorce from Andrew Shue. Meanwhile, Holmes reportedly filed for divorce from his former wife, Marilee Fiebig, in late December — after the news of the Amy Robach relationship broke.

T.J. revealed that before being outed, he had been prepping his nine-year-old daughter to accept her “new reality,” meaning having divorced parents. That process, he claims, had been going on for about four months. He admitted not wanting to immediately tell his daughter that he was now dating someone she’d known since being an infant.

That’s why T.J. said he didn’t immediately think to tell ABC network executives about the new relationship and his pending divorce.

After being outed, Amy Robach emotionally spoke about having nights when she didn’t want to get out of bed and “wanted to die.” Meanwhile, T.J. admitted that Amy had to conduct a welfare check on him.
