A woman was allegedly raped at an #Atlanta nightclub and the incident was captured on her Facebook Live video, which has now gone viral.
The woman, identified as Jasmine Eiland according to her Facebook account, was at #Opera nightclub on Saturday night when she said she was drugged prior to being attacked. Many who have seen the video claim they saw a pill in her drink while she was dancing with an unidentified man prior to the alleged attack.
Authorities have now gotten involved, according to Rolling Out. “Early Sunday morning, APD began receiving calls about a Facebook Live video that appears to show a woman being sexually assaulted in a local nightclub. Our Special Victims Unit made contact with the victim today, and an investigation into the matter has been opened. The investigation continues,” said a statement from the Atlanta Police Department.
The victim has since posted that she is ok to her Facebook page. Another statement on her page reads “Please no calls/text. I’m still gathering myself please.”
Opera has also responded to the alleged attack at their club. “The disturbing matter that occurred last night has been brought to our attention, and we are working as diligently as possible in full cooperation with local law enforcement,” said a message from the club’s management on its Instagram page.
Many on social media want to get justice for Eiland and have shown support for her in her comments.
“No matter if she was bending over, No matter how short her dress was, No matter how drunk she was, No matter how Friendly she was being. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE (raped), NO MEANS NO TF!!!” wrote one Facebook user.
We hope that law enforcement can help the victim find justice in this situation.
