Authorities Say Father Who Fatally Shot His Three Kids At Sacramento Church Had Restraining Order Against Him

The Sacramento father who shot and killed his three kids and another adult before turning the gun on himself has been identified.

According to @cnn, David Mora Rojas, 39, is responsible for the tragic incident that took place at The Church in the Arden-Arcade area. His daughters Samarah Mora Gutierrez,9, Samantha Mora Gutierrez, 10, Samia Mora Gutierrez,13, were also identified.

The incident happened during a supervised visit, and Nathaniel Kong, 59, was supervising the family meetup at the time. He was also, unfortunately, shot and killed.

The school district of the girls released a statement and said, “It is with deep sadness that we share with you news of the tragic deaths,” the district said in a message to parents. “There are very few words that can give comfort right now for this unspeakable tragedy. … We will have our Social-Emotional Support Team and Chaplains from the Sacramento Police Department available at those two schools this morning to provide grief counseling and support. This support extends to anyone in the district who may need it.”

Reports state that the mother was out of town during the time the tragic incident occurred, and she is cooperating with police.

Court documents also reportedly show that there was “a five-year domestic violence restraining order against the father was issued in May. It ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away from her and their daughters except for supervised visits of up to four hours that were to be overseen by family friend, Nathaniel Alcon,” The Sacramento Bee reports.

As previously reported, a father walked into a Sacramento church in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood and shot his three kids—all under the age of 15–before turning the gun on himself Monday night.

Gov. Newsom stated the tragic incident was “another senseless act of gun violence in America.” He also tweeted, “”Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and their communities,”

Prayers to those impacted by this incident.
