Ava DuVernay Signs A $100 Million Multi-Year, Multi-Genre Warner Bros. TV Overall Deal

Ava DuVernay is definitely wrapping up the year in a pretty big way, with another bag secured!

According to Deadline, DuVernay just signed a multi-year and multi-genre overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. It is her first pact with any studio, and it is scheduled to start in January. According to the site, the deal is within the $100 million range.

She said, “I’ve had nothing but beautiful experiences working with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, and Brett Paul. They love and support artists in wonderful and nourishing ways. They work within a traditional studio headed by Kevin Tsujihara that is stirring with untraditional energy and fresh protocols for intentional, inclusive image-making. Warner Bros is a terrific partner about matters of visibility and belonging for all kinds and cultures of people, which is our mission at Forward Movement. I couldn’t be happier to call Warner Bros TV my production home.”

DuVernay already has an existing relationship with the studio through the Warner Horizon Scripted Television-produced show “Queen Sugar, “and the CBS event series “Red Line.” She serves as an executive producer on both shows.

The deal offers DuVernay the opportunity to sell her shows to everyone as opposed to being locked into one outlet.

As we previously reported, DuVernay is also in business with Netflix, with her highly anticipated four-part “Central Park Five,” drama premiering next year. She also signed on to do a documentary about Prince, which is also expected to premiere next year.

Back in 2017, her Netflix documentary “13th” was nominated for an Academy Award.

Congrats to Ava DuVernay on her new deal!
