Oop! Ayo Edebiri’s Comments About Jennifer Lopez Resurface Ahead Of Their ‘SNL’ Appearance (LISTEN)

Ayo Edebiri and Jennifer Lopez are set to be in the same building for ‘SNL’ on Saturday (February 3).

But things might get awkward following audio clips of Edebiri talking smack about J. Lo in a resurfaced podcast interview.

The Controversial Podcast Appearance

Back in 2020, the actress appeared on the ‘Scam Goddess’ podcast, where she made some rather unflattering comments about JLo’s career, per Page Six.

Fans have since shed light on these remarks, putting the podcast episode back into the spotlight as their SNL appearance draws near.

The episode in question discussed Linda Taylor’s notorious welfare scam.

But the conversation took a controversial turn when Edebiri shared her views on Lopez’s rise to stardom.

According to Edebiri, Lopez’s career was nothing short of a “long scam,” per Us Weekly.

She went on to mock Lopez’s singing abilities, claiming that JLo wasn’t even the one singing in most of her songs.

“She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her,” she said. I think she thinks that she’s still good even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.”

But it didn’t end there.

She also brought up long-standing rumors that Lopez had used “ghost singers” for some of her tracks, seemingly referring to Ashanti providing background vocals for JLo in the past.

She mentioned that some song descriptions would mention that JLo couldn’t make it to the studio, leading her to question — if JLo wasn’t singing, what was she busy doing?

“A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J. Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio,’ like, ‘J. Lo was busy,’” she claimed.

“It’s like, ‘Doing what?’ Not singing, obviously!!”

The Upcoming ‘SNL’ Appearance

Despite these rumors, JLo has continued to enjoy a successful music career, as well as a booming rise in the movie industry.

With the podcast being brought back into the spotlight, fans are understandably curious to see how things play out when the episode airs on live TV.

In a promo released for the upcoming episode, Edebiri and Lopez stand side-by-side with SNL cast member Heidi Gardner.

The teaser shows Lopez telling Edebiri, “I’m really excited, I love your show,” to which Edebiri responds, “I love your everything.”

However, according to sources close to Edebiri, she is excited about working with JLo and considers herself a fan of the pop icon, per TMZ.

As for Lopez, she hasn’t yet addressed the matter.

While the ‘Get Right’ singer has been an SNL several times in the past, this will be Edebiri’s first time hosting the show.

Fans are eagerly waiting to see how she will handle her SNL debut, especially given her past comments about Ms. Lopez.
