Days after kicking off her ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour, Beyonc received a cease-and-desist letter from Sphere owner James L. Dolan. Hes made some strong accusations against the singer for allegedly using the arenas likeness in her shows. Dolan, the executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment, sent a legal letter to Beyoncs Parkwood Entertainment on May 1, 2025.
According to the New York Post, Dolan demanded that she remove a tour interlude video featuring the iconic Las Vegas venue. The concert footage, which has been circulating on social media since the start of the tour, shows a giant version of Beyonc picking up the Sphere and looming over it. She then picks it up and drops a slight smile before the scene cuts to another shot.
The problem is, Sphere says Bey didnt get permission before including the video in her tour, calling it unauthorized use of intellectual property. The clip is part of the footage fans watch at her shows, but Dolans team isn’t playing, insisting its their property and Beys gotta cut it. If she refuses to cooperate with their request, the company reserves all rights to take further action as SEG deems appropriate without notice.
The fans were buzzing in the comments section of TSRs post as many weighed in with their take. Peep what some people had to say below.
