There was a time when Bill Cosby slammed the black community. Oddly enough the black community is holding him down. One woman in particular is publicly taking his side. Phylicia Rashad has joined the fight to protect Cosbys name and she came out with a lot to say.
In an interview with Showbiz 411, the legendary actress, singer, and stage director made it very apparent that she feels that his rape case is a grand conspiracy to keep Cosby off of television for good. It is reported that all of Cosbys contracts have been cancelled and his show has been put on hold in light of the rape accusations made by Beverly Johnson, Janice Dickinson, and others.
Rashad said, “Forget these women … What youre seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think its orchestrated. I dont know why or whos doing it, but its the legacy. And its a legacy that is so important to the culture.”
Not only did Rashad break her silence on the matter even Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy Huxtableon the show, also recently interviewed with Today defending Cosby. She pointed out his philanthropy and leadership in education as well as how the The Cosby Show has revolutionized black television.
Ultimately, theyre just that, allegations. You known, its very much been played out in the court of public opinion. But were still in America, where ultimately youre innocent until proven guilty. I wasnt there. Thats not the man I know. So I cant speak to it.
Bill Cosbys wife has never left his side either fighting with Cosby every step of the way. Hopefully Bill Cosbys life and legacy can be restored because this is no way to treat a man who has done so much for television in itself. But like Pulliam said, you are innocent until proven guilty.
