Billy Porter Compares The Black Community’s Relationship With The LGBTQ+ Community To White Supremacy—“Black People I’m Calling Ya’ll Out!”

Roommates, “Pose” star Billy Porter is well-known for being very outspoken when it comes to the rights and treatment of the LGBTQ+ community—and he just doubled down on his opinions in a major way. In a recent video posted to social media, Billy Porter called out the black community for not adequately supporting the LGBTQ+ community…and compared them to white supremacists.

Billy Porter took to his Instagram account to post a video blatantly calling out the black community’s lack of acceptance and support of the LGBTQ+ community—and he certainly didn’t mince any words in his comments.

Billy said the following:

“My basic human rights have been up for legislation every single day that I have had breath in my body from all sides—and by that I mean that the Black community’s relationship with the LGBTQ+ community is appalling at best and eerily similar to that of white supremacists versus Black folk. You cannot expect our demands of equality to be met with any real legislative policy and change when y’all turn around and inflict the same kind of hate and oppression on us. The tragic reality here is that Black trans, as well as gender non-conforming, women and men are being killed in the United States by cis Black men to such a degree that it is nearly the worst emergency for trans women on the planet.”

Billy Porter ended his statement with some additional fiery words, saying “To all my homophobic and transphobic brothers and sisters, get your f**king houses in order. We move about our days sucking it up, hiding our pain and terror from the world, trying to make ourselves small, so white people and straight people feel comfortable.”

Social media seemed to be divided on his comments, as many agreed with his points, but didn’t think that now was the appropriate time to address division within the black community.
