Billy Ray Cyrus wants a judge to toss out his marriage less than a year after tying a new knot. Cyrus married singer Firerose in October 2023 after years of friendship and musical collabs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a divorce petition obtained by TMZ and PEOPLE, Billy is asking for an annulment on the grounds of “fraud.”
Cyrus, 62, filed the paperwork against Johanna Rose Hodges on May 22 in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to fraud, the country music legend cited
“irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct” as the reason for their split. There are no additional details at this time about the conduct accusation.
Billy Ray Cyrus didn’t take it too easy on 37-year-old Firerose, only giving her until May 24 to leave their marital home! He offered to pay $500 per night for ten days as temporary housing.
Billy’s petition tone for his wife seems to be a complete switch-up from his posts in April. Back then, he was flicking it up with Firerose and writing captions about being blessed with extra heart emojis.
These posts were still on his Instagram page as of June 12. Firerose also has a few posts with Billy up, including a six-month anniversary one. Both of them have limited comment sections and do not follow each other.
Miley Cyrus is one of five children Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus raised together in their 28-year marriage! Billy adopted Tish’s two kids, Brandi and Trace, and then they had Miley, Braison, and Noah. He is also the father of Christopher Cody, who was born in a previous relationship.
Tish and he wed in 1993, but there have been some rocky moments along the way, including previous filed-and-pulled divorces. They finally parted ways in 2022, making the very amicable public announcement in April.
“It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways not with sadness, but with love in our hearts. We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths,” their joint statement said per PEOPLE.
They said they looked forward to a “loving shared experience as friends and parents.”
Months later, in August, Billy married Firerose. They reportedly met on the set lot where Disney filmed ‘Hannah Montana.’ Meanwhile, actor Dominic Purcell put a ring on Tish’s finger in April 2023, and they made it official in August!
