Black Lesbian Teen Suspended After Asking Girlfriend To Prom

It’s 2018 and sadly we still have to deal with this foolery. Two female students in Alabama were suspended from their high school after one girl decided to ask her girlfriend to prom, according to the New York Post.

Janizia Ross, 17, really wanted to go all out for her girlfriend in a special and asked her to prom during the schools talent show on Tuesday, with help from a female classmate.

Unfortunately, the school wasn’t feeling her promposal and gave her, and the female student who helped her, in-school suspensions the following day.

School officials reportedly said that the promposal was a “disruption” because it happened on on school grounds.

Ross’ mother, Jeanise Ross-Walton, said similar events like this have happened at the school before without any consequences.

Other students are backing Ross’ mom as well.

“If it was a male and a female student, nothing would have been done,” senior Ashley Fadely told AL.com.

“I was there when it happened,” Fadely said. “It was right after her performance. No words were spoken by them. They just got happy, hugged and that was it.”

Principal Anthony Mack Holley took it a step further by making an announcement over the schools intercom system telling students that Alexandria High is a “Christian School” and apologized to anyone who was taken back by the sudden promposal.

Surprisingly, an investigaton showed that school officials “fully honored” a commitment to equal educational opportunities for everyone, according to a statement from the school board.
