Blake Griffin Responds To Being Traded To The Detroit Pistons

On Monday, news broke that Clippers power forward Blake Griffin was traded to the Detroit Pistons. The move by the organization was a shock to many, as Griffin has been on the team since entering the NBA back in 2009.

Today, Griffin released a statement and thanked the fans for their support throughout the years.

He said, “Needed a night to digest and reflect on what happened…From being a #1 pick, to Lob City, to six straight Playoff appearances, I am so proud to have been part of the success of the Clippers organization.”

He continued, “LA has been my home since I started in the league and I will be forever grateful to the city for embracing me and supporting me.”

According to ESPN, back in July Griffin agreed to a $171 million, five-year deal, which didn’t include a no-trade clause.

Griffin’s trade has caused other players to react to the news, including LeBron James and Matt Barnes.

Pistons center Andre Drummond welcomed Griffin with open arms on Monday, with hopes of getting the team to rise within the Eastern Conference.
