Boomerang Reboot Ordered At BET As A New Series

BET has ordered three new series to be added to their lineup.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network’s president Scott Mills handed out straight to series orders on three new scripted series.

Among the series will be a reboot of the classic 1992 film “Boomerang,” which starred Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry, and Robin Givens.

The shows placement on the network will continue to add to the success BET has been experiencing thanks to the use of scripted series.

Mills said, “The shows that have been most successful on BET are all scripted: The Game, The New Edition Story, Being Mary Jane, Real Husbands of Hollywood. When you succeed in that space, it has a wonderful effect on the brand.”

The writer and the producing team for the “Boomerang” reboot has not been determined yet, but it will be a 10-episode half-hour comedy that will stick with the same premise of the original.

The other two series that were ordered to BET are “Peachtree Place,” a comedy produced by Will Packer, and “American Soul,” a drama inspired by the life of Soul Train’s Don Cornelius.
