Brittney Griner and Cherelle Griner have officially welcomed their first child together.
According to TMZ, Britney Griner announced the birth of her and Cherelle Griner’s baby boy in an interview on CBS Sports’ ‘We Need To Talk.’ In her interview, Brittney shared that their son was born on July 8, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
Brittney and Cherelle haven’t released any photos of their baby yet, but the WNBA player expressed her excitement about becoming a “pops” in her CBS Sports interview.
“That’s my man. He is amazing! They say, you know, as soon as you see him, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window, and that’s what literally happens.”
US Weekly reports that Brittney is excited about her newborn but struggles with leaving him for the WNBA All-Star weekend and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He will understand.” The Phoenix Mercury star joked while declaring her obsession with him, “My whole phone has turned into him now.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Brittney and Cherelle revealed their unborn child’s gender and name in May. The duo announced that they were expecting in April, sharing ultrasound pics on Instagram at the time.
“Cant believe were less than three months away from meeting our favorite human being #BabyGrinerComingSoon #July2024,” Cherelle wrote under the snapshots while showing off their matching tattoos.
On May 15, CBS News reported that the couple planned to name their son Bash.
Per The Shade Room, Bash is Brittney and Cherelle’s first child together. Brittney also has twin children from a previous relationship with former WNBA player Glory Johnson.
The couple has kept fans updated throughout their pregnancy, sharing exclusive maternity shoot photos in June. Brittney and Cherelle posted photos on Instagram, with each one marking a countdown to their son’s arrival.
