Bronx Teacher Slavery Lesson Gone Wrong, Singled Out Black Students & Had Them Lie On The Floor

I don’t know what’s going on up in these school’s nowadays but some of these teachers need to cut the foolery and get some proper training. Kids and parents at Bronx middle school are pissed at a teacher for her offensive lesson in racism.

According to New York Daily News, Middle School 118 teacher left her students in shock when she asked all the black students in her class to lie on the floor for a lesson on U.S. slavery. I’m not sure who she ran this lesson plan but she had the audacity to step on their backs to show them what slavery felt like, students and staff members said.

Patrica apparently did this “questionable” lesson in multiple seventh-grade classes. The students were currently studying the Middle Passage, where Africans were brutally kidnapped and shipped of to America.

“It was a lesson about slavery and the Triangle Trade,” said one of Cummings’ students, who asked to remain anonymous.

“She picked three of the black kids,” the boy said, and instructed them to get on the floor in front of the class. “She said, ‘You see how it was to be a slave?’ She said, ‘How does it feel?’ ”

One of the girls made a joke about feeling fine ,while laying on the ground, and the teacher stepped right on her back afterwards.

“She put her foot on her back and said ‘How does it feel?’” the student said. “ ‘See how it feels to be a slave?’ ”
After word got out about her crazy lesson she was removed from her post for a couple days but returned shortly after like nothing happened.

The school was left with no choice but to reassign the $68, 934-a-year teacher after the Daily News hit up the city’s Education Department.

“While the investigation has not been completed, these are deeply disturbing allegations, and the alleged behavior has no place in our schools or in society,” said Education Department spokeswoman Toya Holness.
