Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu Home Burns Down In California Wildfires, Thousands Ordered To Evacuate & Fatalities Reported In Northern Part Of State

#Roommates, let’s keep those affected by the wildfires currently raging in #California right now in our thoughts and prayers as many are fleeing to safety.

The Camp Fire that’s burning up north near Paradise, California, has claimed the lives of at least five people, according to CNN. Meanwhile in Southern California, there are two fires, the #Woolsey and #Hill fires, one of which burned down Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home. The fires have threatened thousands of homes in the areas of #Calabasas and #Malibu, affecting celebrities including The Game and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s family.

Due to these fires, more than 150,000 people have been evacuated and more than 18 million people are under red flag warnings, meaning the areas they live in are on fire watch and high alert status due to weather conditions that may result in extreme fire behavior.

Since the fires’ progression, all of Malibu is under evacuation order. Authorities are advising residents and visitors to use Pacific Coast Highway and avoid the much-used canyon roads, due to the fire danger.

Up north, the Camp Fire, which is close to the Chico area, is larger than Manhattan, or roughly the size of Charleston, South Carolina. It has burned 20,000 acres in less than 14 hours Thursday.

The Woolsey Fire burned 8,000 acres in 13 hours. The fast-spreading fire doubled in size this morning, from 4,000 to 8,000 acres in under 90 minutes. That is about 44 acres a minute or around a football field every two seconds.

The Hill Fire has burned 10,000 acres in six hours. While no structures have been destroyed or damaged, there are 437 that are threatened. The Ventura County Fire Department expects the fire to be contained by next Thursday.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest, #Roommates.
