Cardi B Set For Her First Leading Movie Role In Forthcoming Comedy “Assisted Living”

Roommates, Cardi B is starting off 2021 with a bang…and it involves taking her infectious personality to the big screen. It has just been announced that Cardi has landed her very first leading movie role in an upcoming comedy.

After her small, but scene-stealing role in the 2019 drama film “Hustlers” starring Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B has officially leveled up and landed her own starring role. Cardi has been tapped as the lead in Paramount’s forthcoming comedy “Assisted Living.”

“Assisted Living” is described as a “raucous comedy” with “tremendous heart,” in the vein of classic funny films like “Sister Act” and “Mrs. Doubtfire.” It follows Cardi B as the character Amber, a small-time crook who finds herself in over her head when a heist goes wrong.

The film’s synopsis details the plot, revealing that with Amber on the run from the cops and her former crew, she struggles to find anywhere to hide. Running out of options, Amber disguises herself as an elderly woman and hides out in the one place no one will look — her estranged grandmother’s nursing home.

Paramount won rights to “Assisted Living” in a competitive bidding war in spring of 2019. The film is based on an original spec script by Kay Oyegun, a writer for “This Is Us.” Temple Hill and Stephen Love are on board as producers.
