Today was a good day for Cardi B! The GRAMMY-Award-winning rapper reached another level in her career as her single ‘I like It’ featuring J. Balvin and Bad Bunny from her debut studio album, ‘Invasion of Privacy’ became RIAA certified diamond. This marks her third diamond record! If you recall, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2018, at the time, making Cardi the first female rapper with two No. 1 singles, following ‘Bodak Yellow.’
Cardi was so excited that she let out a tweet once she caught wind of the good news. She also hopped on live to thank her fans for supporting her record. While wearing Balenciaga sunglasses, the Bronx native reminisced when the record went number one. “I was really nervous for this record because I feel like this record was kind of long, and you know I have an English Hip-Hop album, and I feel like it only had one verse, and the hook was in English,” she explained. As the live continued, she said the song brings in a lot of money because it’s always requested for commercials and products.
The good news for Cardi didn’t stop with the single being diamond certified. She is now the first female rapper to have three diamond singles. According to Billboard, Cardi’s other singles include ‘Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)’ and ‘Girls Like You’ by Maroon 5, which hit the record on November 29th, according to the RIAA’s website. The success of ‘I Like It’ has also translated onto YouTube. Billboard reports it’s a part of YouTube’s Billion Views Club, with more than 1.4 billion views. Spotify shows the song has more than 1.3 billion streams.
Congrats, Cardi B!
