The Director, Social Media Content,  TSR Teens is responsible for creating and growing the overall visual identity and strategy of The Shade Room Teens (TSR Teens) on all social media platforms with minimal to no brand presence. Working closely with The Shade Room’s digital editorial team, TSR Studios and Ads & Marketing teams, this role takes on an audience-first approach, curating original posts and social first video content. As new platforms emerge, this position will work to keep TSR Teens on the cutting edge of social creative.

The Director, Social Media Content, TSR Teens possess a thorough understanding of brand goals, identity, storytelling, and business objectives.


  • Ideate, develop and produce content and original video across the social ecosystem (Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat, etc.)— ensuring audience engagement and growth across TSR Teens’ accounts.
  • Manage a social media team of content producers, and creatives in the ideation and production of original content.
  • Manage visuals of TSR Teens’ Instagram account, with engagement, franchise development, and audience growth top of mind.
  • Function as TSR Teens’ key point person and responsible for regularly keeping all relevant editorial and business staff abreast of updates.
  • Develop social content plan across TSR Teens’ social platforms that expand the brand’s reach including Tik Tok, Twitter, Facebook and emerging platforms.
  • Develop expert knowledge of The Shade Room Teens’ archive to use in social content.
  • Maintain awareness and provide social support to all brand initiatives — including website content, video series/specials, and social impact initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Director of Social Media Content, The Shade Room, and Managing Editor of to explore synergy, collaboration and opportunities for cross-pollination.
  • Collaborate with TSR Studios team on social media first video.
  • Work alongside TSR Studios leadership to manage pre-production and post-production process, including, but not limited to, shoot schedules, budgets, and creative outlines.
  • Collaborate with’s editorial team and TSR Studios to have their work represented on social.
  • Talent liaison for social content, communicating with external reps.
  • Stay up to date on evolving features, trends, and popular social platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Understand and loves Black culture across the diaspora through the Gen Z lens.

  • Knowledge of internet culture and social media landscape (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Snap,, the unique elements of each platform and what makes content successful on those particular platforms.

  • Written and oral communication skills with an emotionally intelligent communication style.
  • Ability to navigate matrixed organizations.
  • Relationship management; networking skills with the ability to cultivate strong professional relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Top-notch time management skills.
  • Flexibility in managing a heavy workload with multiple responsibilities and assignments simultaneously; ability to meet deadlines; experience managing both urgent, short-term projects, and complex, longer-term projects. ​
  • Legal right to work in the US.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field, preferred. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a strategic leader in the social media space. A minimum of three (3) years of experience managing a minimum team size of three (3) or more employees. Excellent track record of producing and overseeing content execution. Experience within a start-up or new line of business within a large, highly leveraged company.

This is a full-time and exempt position. Salary range is $90,000 – $100,000 a year. Compensation will be based off of experience and local cost of living.
