(Update) Casey White Indicted For Felony Murder In Connection To The Death Of Former Corrections Officer Vicky White

Roommates, remember when authorities were searching for escaped inmate Casey White, and Vicky White, the corrections officer that reportedly helped him escape? Well as ya’ll know, things ended with Casey back in handcuffs, and Vicky died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Now Casey has been indicted for Vicky’s death.

According to CNN, the indictment claims that Casey “caused the death of Vicky White,” as he was committing first-degree escape. Back on May 9th, officials said Vicky killed herself after she and Casey led police on a car chase after they were spotted in Indiana.

Alabama, Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly said that Casey was served an arrest warrant on Monday at the state prison in Bessemer, Alabama where he is currently being held.

As previously related, officials believe that Casey and Vicky, who are not related, developed a romantic relationship at the Lauderdale County jail. A viral video showed Vicky releasing Casey from his cell after telling the jail that he was due in court for a mental health evaluation, only to find out that an evaluation was not scheduled.

That resulted in a manhunt that lasted over several days before ending in Evansville, Indiana. Both Casey and Vicky led police on a high-speed chase that led to their vehicle crashing. Once officials reached their car, they discovered Vicky suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a suicide.

Aside from facing charges for first-degree escape, the indictment says Casey also committed felony murder “during the course of and in furtherance” of this particular. Prior to the crime, he was already serving a 75-year prison sentence for a crime spree in 2015.
