Christina Milian is a talented actress and singer whose name is known around the world. She’s made a name for herself in the music and show business. Milian has starred in hit movies like Bring It On: Fight to the Finish and earned multiple GRAMMY nominations.

Early Life

Christina Milian was born Christine Flores on September 26, 1981. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, but was raised in Waldorf, Maryland. She is of Cuban descent, but changed her name to her mother’s maiden name, Milian, later in life for show business.

Milian was infatuated by TV and music at a young age. At age 9, she began auditioning with talent agencies and was even cast as the leading role in the musical, Annie. When Milian was 13 years old, her mother moved her and her siblings to Los Angeles. Milian pursued both acting and singing.

Career

In 2000, Milian made her first major singing appearance. She performed vocals on Ja Rule’s album, Rule 3:36. The song she was featured on, Between Me and You, peaked at number 11 on Billboard Hot 100.

Milian released her self-titled debut album internationally in 2001, and it received moderate success. Milian decided to postpone US release due to the September 11 attacks and eventually decided not to release it domestically.

Milian soon was featured on Romeo’s track It’s All Gravy and recorded the theme song for the Disney animated show, Kim Possible.

Milian’s acting debut was as a reporter on the show Movie Surfers. From there, she started in minor roles in Sister, Sister, Smart Guy, Torque, The Steve Harvey Show, Get Real, The Wood, and American Pie. Her first lead role was in Love Don’t Cost A Thing.

In 2004, Milian released her second studio album, It’s About Time. The album received mixed reviews and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 album chart. In 2005, she received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album.

2006 was the year Milian released her third studio album, So Amazin’. A week after the album’s release, the artist was dropped by her record label, Island Def Jam. She then released a compilation album, The Best of Christina Milian. In 2008, Milian signed with MySpace Records, releasing a ballad single Us Against the World.

Milian’s fourth studio album was postponed multiple times. In the meantime, she starred in movies such as Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, Snowglobe, Ghosts of Girlfriend’s Past, and Need for Speed: Undercover.

In 2012, Milian joined Young Money, Lil Wayne’s recording group. She has since debuted her reality TV show Christina Milian Turned Up in 2015, starred on Dancing with the Stars in 2013, and scored the leading role in the Netflix romantic comedy Falling Inn Love.
