Kiari Kendrell Cephus, also known as Offset, was born on December 14, 1991. He was raised alongside his two cousins in the middle-class suburbs of Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Atlanta.
At the age of 17, young and rebellious Offset decided to recruit his family members, Takeoff and Quavo, and form a music trio called Migos. In 2013, Migos was ready to release their first single, Versace, followed by the release of their first, full-length, studio album, Yung Rich Nation, in 2015.
It was clear from the start that the Migos trio is serious with their music. In 2017, Migos became internationally famous by becoming a real internet phenomenon. It was their single, Bad and Boujee, which raised them to stardom.
The single’s lyrics “raindrop, drop top,” originally performed by Offset himself, became a meme. The single became a monster hit, debuting at leading positions on many charts. It also debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The second studio album, Culture, hit the public in 2017. It instantly went viral, peaking at number one position on the US Billboard 200 chart. That was the right moment for Offset to go solo.
He’s still a member of Migos, but he also wanted to release solo music. He collaborated with numerous rap stars and artists such as Macklemore, Drake, Metro Boomin, and many others. His collaboration with rapper, 21 Savage, resulted in a collaborative studio album, Without Warning.
The album was released in 2017, hitting leading positions on many charts, including number 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album became a worldwide hit, spawning monster hits such as the epic, Ric Flair Drip.
The single instantly went platinum, the very first of its kind in Offset’s collection. The song remained as the highest positioning US Billboard Hot 100 entry to this very day. Offset’s first solo album, Father of 4, was released on February 22, 2019.
Other than music, Offset had other ventures as well. He tried himself as an actor a couple of times. His appearances in TV series such as Atlanta and fashion campaigns for the likes of Lavati, Bryce Barnes, and Gosha Rubchinskiy only helped him establish himself as a prominent, rising star.
He continued appearing in shows and series, including YouTube series Hot Ones. Still, the best thing about Offset was his investment in the Esports group FaZe Clan.
Aside from his relationship with Cardi B, little is known about relationships and personal life of Offset. He started dating Cardi B in 2017. They became serious the following year, so Offset proposed to Cardi in his own manner.
He chose a live show at Power 99’s Powerhouse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to make his proposal. In 2018, Cardi B announced to the public that she was pregnant. Offset is already a father to four children, the fourth one being a daughter with Cardi B. The couple had a private wedding. Unfortunately, their marriage didn’t last.
On December 5, 2018, just a year and a half from their wedding, Cardi B went public again and announced that she had broken up with Offset on her Instagram page. She accused him of cheating on her, but the couple reconciled later.
