Angela Simmons has been in the spotlight her whole life but that has never compromised her down-to-earth personality. Check out how she made a name for herself, and what she’s been up to recently.
Born in Queens, NYC, Angela Simmons was no stranger to the public eye, as her father, Joseph Simmons, otherwise known as Rev Run, is a famous former rapper. Her family was featured on a reality TV show Run’s House, which is how she started getting more attention at a young age.
Apart from appearing in Run’s House, which was a huge hit on MTV, she also starred in Daddy’s Girls, another reality TV show, where she appeared alongside her older sister, Vanessa Simmons.
It wasn’t long after appearing in her family reality TV show that Angela started editing the fashion magazine Angela’s Rundown and launching her own fashion lines. She studied fashion in college, so her entrepreneurship was bound to be successful.
She launched Pastry Footwear with her sister, which was only focused on footwear at first. Later, she added a fashion accessories line and launched her own lifestyle brand called ANGELA I AM, which offers a platform for emerging talent in the fashion industry.
Angela didn’t stop there. She launched another fashion line, this time a clothing line with Sanya Richards-Ross, called Foofi and Bella. Growing Up Hip Hop was her next venture, a reality TV show that she produced and starred in.
Angela is a huge philanthropist, and constantly promotes various charitable causes. She’s also a PETA spokesperson and a Children’s Miracle Network ambassador.
