Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born on September 4th, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Her talent was recognized early on when she started performing in local talent shows and competitions. Audiences raved over her impressive vocals and dance skills.
Destiny’s Child & Rise to Fame
Beyoncé took her skills to the next level when she teamed up with her cousin, Kelly Rowland, and classmate, Michelle Williams, to create the infamous R&B group Destiny’s Child. In 1997, the group landed a record deal with the well-known record label Columbia Records. The group went on to sing hits like Say My Name and Bills, Bills, Bills.
Beyoncé began exploring a solo career in the early 2000s. She dived into the acting world – co-starring in the Austin Powers movie Goldmember. In 2003, she dropped her first solo album, Dangerously In Love, which experienced huge success worldwide. Dangerously in Love won 5 GRAMMYs.
Beyoncé went on to release a variety of GRAMMY-winning albums and songs. She has performed at two Super Bowls with renowned artists such as Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Bruno Mars, and her former Destiny’s Child group members.
In 2008 she married rapper Jay-Z and went on to have 3 children together.

Beyoncé is one of the most loved vocalists of all time, but she has fallen victim to a fair share of controversy. In 2010, Beyoncé performed for the controversial Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi. Upon realizing the mistake, she donated her sum for the performance to victims of the Haitian earthquake.
In 2013, Beyoncé received backlash for performing a pre-recorded version of The Star Spangled Banner at President Obama’s second inauguration.
