Born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, Cynthia Bailey loved modeling from a very early age. She was Homecoming Queen at her high school, but she didn’t get into modeling until moving to New York at the age of 18. As soon as she did, a lot of doors opened for her and helped her build her career.
Not long after she moved to NYC, Cynthia signed with Wilhelmina Models and started modeling and appearing in various fashion magazines. Her appearance on the cover of Essence was particularly successful, as the cover became the highest-selling one in the history of Essence magazine.
This is when her modeling career truly started to bloom. She soon did another shoot for the cover of Essence, as well as for Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Elle, before gracing the runways in Paris and Milan Fashion Week. Maybelline, Olay, and Macy soon endorsed her, propelling her even higher in the modeling world.
Cynthia even appeared in New Order’s music video for “Round and Round” back in 1989.
However, her true fame came when she joined the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She later guest starred on The Next: 15 and Cupcake Wars and was a guest judge in the 65th Miss Universe. She also appeared in the Black Friday documentary and the movie Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.
