Daniel Kaluuya is a British actor and writer who is well known for his parts in Get Out, Black Panther, and other popular roles. He’s also appeared in many British television shows, including Skins.

Personal Life

Early Life

Daniel Kaluuya was born on February 24, 1989 in London, England. His father lived in Uganda and was not able to visit Kaluuya often due to the travel restrictions in the UK. So, Daniel Kaluuya and his older sister were mainly raised by his mother. Daniel Kaluuya went to St. Aloysius College.


Daniel Kaluuya is very private about his relationships. He is currently rumored to be dating former actress Amanda Crichlow. Crichlow has had a few television roles, including in 2006 when she played Gloria in Prime Suspect 7: The Final Act.


At the young age of 9, Daniel Kaluuya wrote his first play and began acting at the Anna Scher Theatre School and WAC Arts in London. As he got older, Daniel Kaluuya started getting some roles on the small screen. His breakout role is arguably Posh Kenneth in the first two seasons of Skins. Kaluuya also helped co-write some of the episodes on this popular British television show. He was the head writer of the “Jal” and “Thomas” episodes.

From 2011 to 2013, Daniel Kaluuya had roles in a few short films. The most notable short film he starred in, Baby, was featured at the Sundance Film Festival. This film received multiple awards, such as the Best Short Film Award at the British Independent Film Awards and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. He also appeared in a few other shorts, including the films Beginning and Jonah.

Daniel Kaluuya has starred in many other television shows, including Silent Witness and Doctor Who. He also starred in a black mirror episode, “15 million merits.” His performance in this episode caught the attention of actor and director Jordan Peele. Jordan Peele later cast Daniel Kaluuya as a starring role in the critically acclaimed horror film Get Out. He received roaring reviews, with Vanity Fair stating that Kaluuya’s performance was a “masterful, telling piece of acting.

In 2016, Daniel Kaluuya was cast to play W’Kabi in the Marvel film, Black Panther. This film came out in the United States in 2018 and was a box office hit. Daniel Kaluuya also recently played other large roles, including Widows in 2018 and Queen & Slim in 2019.

Daniel Kaluuya is also no stranger to the theater. He has played several roles on stage. His theater debut started with Sucker Punch in 2010 and his most recent role has been in Blue/Orange in 2016.

Daniel Kaluuya’s performance as Chris Washington in Get Out earned him numerous nominations and awards. He received a nomination at the Academy Award ceremony for Best Actor. His role in Get Out also earned him nominations for a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award, a Critics’ Choice Award, and a SAG Award.

Daniel Kaluuya’s first win for his film career was in 2018, when he won the BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Kaluuya has also received great reviews and awards for his theater work. His performance in his first theater role in Sucker Punch earned him amazing reviews on his work. He also won the Evening Standard Award and Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer.
