Early Life

Born Radric Delantic Davis in Bessemer, Alabama, Gucci Mane didn’t have a very happy childhood. His father was a drug dealer, which is the path that he and his brother also chose later. He lived in a part of Atlanta that was high in crime. He got into lots of trouble with the police for dealing drugs.

His brother introduced him to the world of hip hop when he was only six years old. He started rapping at 14 and decided to pursue a rap career seriously. He began writing songs and recording tracks and mixtapes, before finally signing a record deal with Tommy Boy Records.

Career

Gucci Mane released his debut album Trap House (2005), which was a massive success on the charts. A string of mixtapes and albums followed, each critically-acclaimed, topping the Billboard charts. At the moment, he has 16 released studio albums and more than 70 mixtapes.

He has collaborated with tons of prominent artists, including Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil’ Kim, Ludacris, Usher, Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey, and Marilyn Manson. He founded his record label, 1017 Records, and continues to bring constant innovations to trap music, inspiring and helping young artists realize their dreams just like he did.

In 2017, he published The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, which he wrote in prison.

Gucci Mane has been in a few relationships before marrying Keyshia Ka’ior in 2017, after years of their on-and-off relationship that started in 2010. He also had a few short encounters, and he’s rumored to have had a fling with singer Mya.

Gucci Mane is no stranger to headlines. He has been in trouble with the law many times throughout his career. Most recently, Gucci was arrested and charged with firearm possession by a convicted felon. He served a three-year sentence and was released in March of 2016.
