Jacquees is an American R&B artist who found his voice when he was only nine years old. Many of Jacquees’ hits have all gone viral, introducing him as a rising star to keep an eye on.
Early Life
Born Rodriquez Broadnax on April 15, 1994, in Decatur, Georgia, Jacquees was raised by his mother, Rosie. Rodriquez had dreamt of becoming a big R&B artist ever since he was a little boy, so he started singing when he was only nine years old.
Rodriquez had two influential bands he looked up to – the Jackson family and the Temptations. After having spent years in front of the TV watching them perform, Rodriquez finally taught himself how to sing. His rise to fame started shortly after, while he was in grad school.
Career
During his school years, Rodriquez participated in numerous talent shows and won many awards. As an up-and-coming R&B artist, he changed his name to Jacquees. There wasn’t much going on in his career at the beginning, but Jacquees was determined to make it big.
Refusing to give up on his dream, Jacquees eventually earned himself a shot at fame when he caught the attention of his soon-to-be manager Orlando Grind, as well as important industry figures Dexx Lee, Russell “Block” Spencer, the founder and CEO of Block Entertainment, and J. Sims.
Jacquees first showed his talents through a creative collaboration with rapper T.I. on his single Krazy. This was enough for Block to give him the green light for his first EP I Am Jacquees, followed by a series of successful mixtapes. He eventually signed a big record deal with Cash Money Records.
Jacquees’ second EP titled 19 launched him to the very top of the R&B charts. After that, it was obvious that a new star was born. The artist has since worked with giants like Chris Brown and Trinidad James.
In the News
Jacquees was supposedly dating a girl named Stanesha. Judging by her sister’s social media posts, it seems as if the two were in a serious relationship that lasted for a couple of years. Jacquees and Stanesha have broken up since and are supposedly not on good terms.
