Joe Budden | Bio, Career & More

Joe Budden

Joe Budden is an amazingly talented rapper, songwriter, and broadcaster who’s been in the industry for almost 20 years. His unique rapping style has distinguished him from the rest and is what’s garnered him so many fans.

Take a look at his early life and career and see why he’s the talk of the town once again!

Early Life

Joe Budden, or Joseph Anthony Budden II, was born in New York City in 1980. When he was just a teen, he moved to New Jersey with his mother and brother. His father, on the other hand, was largely absent from his childhood, and his fans have noticed his lyrics are often focused on that.

Like most teens, he didn’t particularly enjoy school, and he’d started rapping when he was in high school, focusing on his music rather than on his studies. At the time, he developed a drug addiction, which he now talks about openly, and was sent to rehab.

He became a father when he was 20 years old, and this is what’s encouraged him to seek a career in rapping and focus on his music.

Career

Budden’s first mixtape came out in 2001 and he then started creating demos with Dub-B. One of their demos reached the Hot 97 radio host, and the rest is history.

Early on in his career, Joe got the opportunity to work alongside various rappers and fellow artists, including Fabulous, Kelly Rowland, and 3rd Storee. He’s appeared on DJ Kayslay’s mixtape and collaborated with many more renowned artists.

After signing with Def Jam Recordings in 2003, his career really took off. His debut album Joe Budden peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200. His song Pump It Up was wildly successful, and even got a GRAMMY nomination.

To date, Joe’s released 8 studio albums and made quite a name for himself with his raw talent and astonishing stage persona.
