Kandi Burruss-Tucker is an American singer, songwriter, business woman, actress, and reality TV star. She is well-known for being on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Personal Life

Early Life

Kandi Burruss-Tucker was born on May 17, 1976 in East Point, Georgia. Her father is Reverend Titus Burruss Jr. and her mother is Joyce Jones. She had one older brother named Patrick Riley who died at 22 years old from a car crash.

Kandi graduated from Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia in 1994. As a teenager, Kandi was already beginning her professional career. At the age of 15, Kandi appeared on Teen Summit, a BET Series.

Relationships and Family

Kandi Burruss-Tucker is married to Todd Tucker, and has been since 2014. Todd and Kandi’s mother, Joyce, have been known for feuding it the past and their conflict still doesn’t seem to be resolved. Her mother claims that she believes Todd is using Kandi. However, Kandi disagrees and continues to have a happy marriage with Todd.

Kandi has three children. She had her first child, Riley, with her ex-boyfriend Russell Spencer. Riley was born on August 22, 2002. Kandi has two other children with her current husband, Todd: Ace, born in 2016, and Blaze, born in 2019.

Career

Kandi’s first claim to fame was in 1992, when she became a member of the female vocal group Xscape. She also became a well-renowned song writer, winning the Best R&B Song award at the Grammy Awards in 2000 for her part in co-writing the song “No Scrubs” by TLC.

She has produced many hit songs for many popular artists. Some of the songs she helped produce include:

Kandi is also well-known for her role in The Real Housewives of Atlanta, a Bravo reality TV show that has been airing since 2009. Her podcast, Kandi Koated Nights, was featured many times on the Bravo television series. Her production skills were also showcased on the show, when she produced Kim Zolciak’s song, Tardy for the Party, which quickly became a hit with Kandi’s help. She also has been a part of five Real Housewives spinoffs, including The Kandi Factory and Kandi’s Wedding.

Burruss has appeared in a few acting roles as well. She has had roles on the television series The Chi and Insecure. She also has been a contestant on the reality shows Big Brother and The Masked Singer.
