One of the most successful musicians in the world, Kid Cudi, keeps creating music that’s a real treat to listen to. Ever since released his debut single Day ‘n’ Nite in 2008, he has been topping the charts and gathering a huge fanbase. Here’s how he rose to fame, and what he’s been up to recently.

Early Life

Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi in Cleveland, Ohio, Kid Cudi grew up in Solon and Shaker Heights. He lost his father when he was 11, which had a massive impact on him and later his music.

After being expelled from high school, he earned his GED and went on to attend the University of Toledo for a year before dropping out. He wanted to join the US Navy, but his juvenile police record stood in the way.

Career

Cudi started rapping in high school, before moving to NYC to pursue a career in music. He got a job at BAPE, which is where he met Kanye West, his future mentor. His then-manager showed his early work to Kanye, leading to Cudi’s signing up with Kanye’s GOOD Music label.

Cudi soon released his debut single Day ‘n’ Nite, which climbed to the top 5 of the Billboard charts. His debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day (2009), reached the Platinum status twice. His subsequent albums also received critical acclaim, inspiring Cudi to continue treating his fans with his outstanding talents.

He’s no stranger to acting as well. He starred in Need for Speed, Entourage, and many other movies. He also appeared in numerous TV shows, including How to Make It In America, One Tree Hill, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Kid Cudi has been in a few relationships over the years, the longest one being an on-and-off relationship with Jamie Baratta, an entertainment lawyer. He has a daughter with Jacqueline Munyasya, his one-time girlfriend.
