Dominique Jones, professionally known as Lil Baby, is a rapper singer and songwriter who quickly rose to fame for his contributions to the trap music genre.
Lil Baby was born on December 3, 1994 in Atlanta Georgia. His father left when he was two years old. His mother raised him as a single mom, along with his two sisters. As a child and teenager, Lil Baby struggled in school and got in trouble several times. He ended up dropping out of school in ninth grade.
Relationships and Family
Lil Baby previously dated Ayesha and the two have a son named Jason together. In 2016, Lil Baby started dating Jayda Cheaves, a model. Jayda appeared in his “Close Friends” music video. The two had a son together in 2019 named Loyal.
Run-Ins With The Law
Lil Baby has had a few encounters with the law. He was charged for posession with intent to sell in 2012. He refused his two-year plea and was admitted into a program that held him for a year. During this year’s sentence, there was conflict with a white prisoner due to racial comments that were made. This altercation resulted in his original two-year sentence being restored.
In 2013, he was charged for marijuana possession and, a year later, was charged with marijuana possession with intent to sell – along with other charges. This landed him in prison for two more years.
Once Lil Baby was released from prison, he released his first mixtape called Perfect Timing. This mixtape featured other famous rappers, including Lil Yachty and Young Thug. He soon released another mixtape called Harder Than Hard in 2017. Both of these mixtapes quickly gained attention, but it was his single “Freestyle” in his mixtape, Too Hard, that began his path to fame.
His first studio album was released in May 2018, called Harder Than Ever. This album ranked at number on the US Billboard 200 chart. The singles “Yes Indeed” and “Southside” rose to spot six on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2020, Lil Baby released several singles that proved to be hits, including “Sum 2 Prove.” He also released a single “The Bigger Picture” during the type of the George Floyd protests. This single reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the highest charting song of his.
Lil Baby has released two studio albums and six mixtapes. He has three mixtapes that are soon to be released.

Lil Baby has won two awards for his music. In 2019, he won the Best New Artist award at the BET Awards for “Drip Too Hard”. He then won the Impact Track award at the BET Hip Hop Awards for his single “The Bigger Picture.”
